Our task in Lausanne, Switzerland was to turn the architect’s design into reality and fine-tune the details, so that the clients receive a custom-made furnishings with a focus on minimalist principles. The cooperation started on the basis of a positive recommendation and included the production and assembly of doors, coverings, kitchen furniture, wardrobe and a library.
After consultations with the clients, we selected a combination of materials with an emphasis on their functionality, timeless design and sustainability. In order to match the shade of the oak veneer with the oak parquet floor, we produced physical samples of 1 x 1 m in several shades.
We also offered the client different oak veneer brushing structures. At the same time, we explained to the clients what they can expect from the material over time. We also produced all wooden wall coverings and atypical doors reaching up to the ceiling in the selected shade and structure.
A special piece in the kitchen was a horizontal handle made of solid oak, inserted into the kitchen cabinet doors. Aware of unwanted bending, we partially cut the cabinet doors above the profile of the handle and inserted a practical veneer fitting.
Thanks to the attention to detail and honest production, the individual pieces fit together to the millimeter and the resulting effect looked as unobtrusive as possible. The consistent selection of natural materials throughout the project confirms our intention to produce sustainable furniture with an emphasis on repairability and moral and functional longevity.
